Chiwetel Ejiofor to Play a Slave in New Film

British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his roles in movies such as Four Brothers, Inside Man, American Gangster, and Salt will star in the upcoming autobiographical film entitled, “Twelve years as a Slave.”

Ejiofor will play Solomon Northup, a well-educated, married, and free black man living in New York during the 1800s.

In the film, Northup is approached by two mysterious men who offer him a job in Washington D.C. However, when he arrives in D.C., he is immediately kidnapped and sold as a slave.

Famed actor Brad Pitt and his production company, Plan B, will produce the movie.

Solomon Northup’s autobiography about his tragic experience as a slave was published in 1853.

russ mitchell of CBS saturday morning show recommended the book as his choice of non-fiction for the new "r&r book club". looks like a great read... possibly a great movie???
