Harry Thomas Jr., a D.C. Council member, is reportedly paying a $300,000 settlement to the city to lay to rest accusations that he used public money for youth programs to purchase luxury vehicles and fund expensive trips. The fact that Thomas opted to settle, however, does not mean that he will be exempt from potential criminal charges. In addition, he agreed not to lead any charity organizations for at least five years.
